Press release with reference to the multiple interpretations and comments recently published on the 2022 financial year results

In response to the multiple interpretations and comments recently published regarding the financial results of 2022, SA "Loteria Națională a Moldovei" communicates the following:

The financial result achieved in 2022 amounts to approximately 193.4 million MDL, representing an increase of about 60% compared to the profit recorded in 2021.

This outcome is primarily the result of the policies and measures implemented by the management of SA LNM, particularly through cost optimization, changes in the sales structure, and the migration of players from offline gambling to online platforms.

It is important to highlight that this growth is not primarily due to a significant increase in the number of players in the Republic of Moldova or the rising popularity of gambling among Moldovan citizens. Instead, it is the result of addressing the "grey zone" of gambling services, which have been offered unlawfully by unauthorized foreign operators in violation of Moldovan legislation.

By blocking unauthorized gambling websites and payments associated with such illegal operations, the measures undertaken by SA LNM's executive team, Private Partners, and Governmental regulatory bodies have led to positive outcomes in overseeing and regulating gambling activities, ensuring proper taxation of winnings, and enforcing the principles of the National Gambling Policy.

Moving forward, the reduction of illegal gambling websites and payments in the local market, as well as the development of digital monitoring solutions for the Moldovan online space, will remain a top priority for SA LNM's management and Private Partners.

The increased share of legal gambling in the local market has significantly contributed to the Public Interest, with approximately 406 million MDL generated within the fully state-owned company and the public-private partnership project in the gambling sector.

Notably, the total contributions of SA LNM to the National Public Budget in 2022 have increased 3.3 times compared to 2021, reaching approximately 213.4 million MDL. Of this amount, around 9 million MDL was allocated to local public administration budgets.

The National Lottery Administration of Moldova participated in the Romanian B2B event for the gambling industry

On 06-08 September 2022, the National Lottery Administration of Moldova participated in the Romanian B2B event for the land-based and online gambling industry, as well as for the sports betting segment, exclusively addressed to specialists, bringing together leading manufacturers and distributors, profile associations, ONJN - National Gambling Office, as well as local and international visitors.

With the aim of developing its business, the administration of SA National Lottery of Moldova held a series of meetings including:

• National Company "Romanian Lottery" S.A. in order to finalize the cooperation agreement and join the European Gaming Association;
• The representative of the Novomatic Group Austria, CEO of Novomatic Romania, partner of the National Lottery of Moldova SA in order to examine the new types of products, gaming machines, platforms, etc. ;
• SC Gaming Consulting, a Romanian company with extensive experience in all branches of the gambling industry, providing consultancy on a regular basis for some of the largest gambling operators in Romania, in order to provide consultancy for: combating illegal websites, monitoring activity, diversifying the gambling industry by transferring live content from the gaming room etc.;
• The Remote Gambling Association, in order to exchange experience;

ONJN, a legal entity subordinate to the Romanian Government, with a view to exchanging experience on combating the activity of illegal sites, monitoring, etc.
